A Windy Day at the Brooklyn Flea

Saturday morning we both woke up at 5:30 in our respective homes and convened at the Nice Package Headquarters (Marichelle’s house) to make final preparations for our big debut at the Brooklyn Flea.  The night before we had been up until 1am mocking up our table layout, prepping and packing our cases (an oh-so glamorous aqua-colored suitcase, black duffle bag, and about 6 Baggu bags), and before we stopped for the night Marichelle painstaking transformed a vintage duvet cover into our awesome tablecloth with only a seam-ripper and a lot of patience.

We were super lucky to have been invited by Deb of Bonbon Oiseau to share her spot and tent with her (though it was hard not to drool all over her gorgeous jewelry).  Soon after set-up at the Brooklyn Flea Ez’s daughter stopped by for a surprise visit.

The wind was intense and a few gigantic tents actually flew off the ground.  It was all hands on deck with shoppers and vendors pitching in to keep everything from blowing away.  I’m not sure how we managed to capture the few shots that we did…everything looks so deceptively calm in them.

Throughout the day we were also lucky enough to have the company of some great friends: Susy, Melissa, and Z (Marichelle’s dear friend who showed up to help us with all things money related)…amazing fellow vendors: Whimsy & Spice, Sesame Letterpress, etc….and we even spotted a few mini-celebs: Leanne Marshall (project runway) – our favorite, and Ashley (America’s Next Top Model) – Ez’s daughter’s fave.

The day wouldn’t have been complete without all the great shoppers who stopped by to say hello or pick up a nice package or two.  We’ll have a fun DIY project coming up for you later this week along with our shop launch.  So stay tuned for that.

Keep it NICE, Ez + Marichelle
